| Third conditional :
To express unreal situations in the past to talk about the opposite of what really happened . this form is often used to regret or criticize .
Form :
If + Past perfect + would + perfect infinitive
( Had -not + V 3 ) ( would have + V 3)
If i hadn't forgetten my raincoat, I wouldn't have got wet.
( I did forget my raincoat and i did get wet )
Language assistant :
Would is in the result clause. If i wouldn't have forgetten my raincoat . . . X
Examples :
1- I'd have finished my project on time if my computer hadn't broken down
2- We would've gone on horse ride yesterday if it hasn't rained
Correct the words between the brackets to form unreal situation :
If Mark had told (tell) me about the meeting, I would have go (go)
If Tina hadn't missed (not miss ) breakfast , she wouldn't have been (be) hungry. | |
